Our experience at Assaggio in Boston’s North End was underwhelming. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, which got the evening off to a rough start. We tried the shrimp cocktail and carpaccio as appetizers. The carpaccio was flavorful but served in a very small portion, and the shrimp cocktail was average at best. For my main course, I had the spaghetti and meatballs, which lacked seasoning and depth—it felt uninspired for an Italian restaurant in this neighborhood. While the ambiance was nice, the food didn’t meet expectations, and the portion sizes were disappointing. With so many amazing Italian spots nearby, it’s hard to recommend Assaggio.
We went here as a group and the food was delicious. I like that the calamari has fried onion and shrimp included. The short ribs were delicious.
Went here for the first time to celebrate an anniversary and I had an awesome experience! Great menu and very tasty food, I tried their calamari appetizer along with the veal parm (dinner special for the night) and it was absolutely delicious and a huge size for the price. Very nice atmosphere and the wait staff were very quick and helpful.
The food here is outstanding! Highly recommend the octopus and chicken parm. It’s a cozy venue, right in line with the North End. Perfect for a date night, or group outing.
A great alternative to Hanover Street, this restaurant is small but mighty. Our waiter and his busboy were excellent at their timing between attending to our needs while giving us space. Food was excellent start to finish. Pasta with meatballs, veal osso buco over risotto and with spinach, and short rib over polenta were both visually appealing and most delicious.
