Review of The Boathouse: A Charming Retreat in St. Louis During our anniversary trip to St. Louis, my husband and I discovered The Boathouse, and it quickly became a highlight of our visit! This quaint little spot is nestled in the heart of Forest Park, offering a delightful mix of charm and serenity that truly feels like a hidden resort. As we approached, the barrier of lush privacy trees enveloped the area, instantly creating a sense of escape from the outside world. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and friendly, sharing details about the weekend events happening in the city. Her recommendations were exactly what we needed to enhance our anniversary celebration and explore more of what St. Louis has to offer. One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to rent paddle boats, which sounded like so much fun! Unfortunately, we weren’t dressed for it, but the idea of gliding across the water while taking in the stunning views was tempting. The early morning atmosphere was absolutely magical, with soft light reflecting off the water and a gentle breeze that made it all feel so idyllic. If you’re looking for a charming spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Forest Park, The Boathouse is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return—next time, we’ll be ready for those paddle boats!
This place is a quiet, welcoming environment for breakfast, but the operational tempo is much higher at lunch. You get views of the park and the lake whenever you come. The brisket is always good, including with eggs at breakfast. You can also order from the lunch menu at breakfast, and the sides are pretty good.
Great spot with efficient service. We sat in the “non table service” area and found the counter guy to be both friendly and fast. I was happy to get free refills on the peace ice tea. The turkey sandwich as delicious. I found the toasted ravioli to be not that great (seemed over cooked- could have been a one-off bad batch)
Decent place to eat, nice looking interior but very noisy inside. Service was great. Prices about average. My tuna salad on croissant and side salad was nothing I'd order again. Other food that was ordered at our table looked tasty...wish I would have tried something different. There is outside table service but only if you sit under the covered part, otherwise you can order and pick up at the outside bar. Outside there is free duck, fish, turtle feed to keep you entertained.... and they do entertain.
I cannot say enough about The Boathouse. The view, the atmosphere, the friendly feathered visitors and the food are all amazing. Try the pulled pork scramble for breakfast! You won’t regret it. But two coils easily share it. Molly is an awesome server. What a treat! I can’t wait to go back!
