I was in town for a concert and had a few hours to kill. I wanted something close the hotel so I could walk, but wasn’t sure what I was in the mood for. CJ Muggs was right around the corner from my hotel. The place has a bit of a neighborhood bar vibe, while still being in the city. It’s about 15-20 minutes from the airport in the Clayton area of downtown St. Louis. Lots of reviews of the food pointed in the direction of the blackened chicken nachos. So that’s what I ordered. Generous portion and delicious chicken and all the expected toppings one would find nachos. If there is one negative the chicken could have used more flavor, but it was still very good. My server, Maddie, seemed to be running the bar area herself. It wasn’t super busy, but she seemed to be completely in charge of the bar area. She was very attentive with a great attitude. I would definitely go there again when I am visiting St. Louis. The major strike against this place is the insistence on serving Pepsi products. For that I cannot give a full five stars.
We stopped here for dinner around 11:20pm and enjoyed it. Ashlee was our server and she did a good job and provided us with the best service. The kitchen was about to close when we arrived but they didn’t cut any corners on the food. I had the turkey burger and fries which I enjoyed. My wife had the wings which were also good. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. This is a nice spot with good food and good service in a nice area.
Overall it was a great late night experience. The food came out quickly. The waitress was really nice and attentive. I'll come back again sometime.
A convenient find a block away from our hotel. The food was good! If you’re interested in sports they have tv’s with various sports playing.
I like most things here. At this old school, casual, dated, friendly, bar and restaurant… just have a few steps from the busy streets of Clayton. It draws a WIDE variety, at one table the other night or 16 people in suits and dresses talking about a major lawsuit they won. Tied on!! . Across from them are some college students doing shots and across from them were some sports fans who are into the game. It draws a little bit of everything in the heart of Clayton. Consistency comes in the place of servers being friendly and food being good. Nothing is necessarily great, but it’s good for what it is. I do think they could use a major remodel, but I don’t think the other people coming here, care about dated chairs and beat up walls, it’s just been here long enough that it’s gonna look like an old pub.
