We had dinner last night and overall it was a great experience. Our servers Mary and Kevin were great and ensured that we had a good experience. The highlights of the meal were the jerk pork belly, the fried chicken and the mango cream brûlée. The hush puppies were a bit oily but they still tasted good. I would recommend the restaurant for an interesting experience in a mix of creole and Caribbean cuisine. Overall a great experience!
The waiters and waitress were on point very nice to my family, very welcoming, no long waiting time for the food. The food was excellent, my son who doesn't like chicken looking black enjoyed the chicken we ordered for him and ate all of it . Service was just great all-round, and for my family of 4, the price was less than expected, very reasonable. Was on my bucket list, and it didn't disappoint. Well done, Nina Compton and your great staff. Thank you
We managed a table based on a cancellation and jumped on it. Compere has been on our list for a while and we were not disappointed. We shared the hush puppies to start (and I'm glad we were sharing -- I would have gladly consumed a dozen). Best hush puppies I've had. The jerk pork belly as my first was delicious. And the goat stew with sweet potato gnocchi was my main. Everything was perfectly balanced with regards to flavors and textures. The portions were exactly right. We shared a bottle of wine three ways (and had a delightful chat with the sommelier about it) and it was just a fantastic evening.
On a recent trip to New Orleans, we dined at Compere Lapin twice. The first night, we ordered “just feed me” from the menu, including the curried goat. Everything was amazing, from the flavorful punch of the pigs ears to the incredible acidity of the green papaya salad. One of the best things we ate was the vegetarian curry-it had incredible depth and spices that reminded me of my trip to India. Wonderful atmosphere and service, we loved eating this food and are excited to come back.
Dined at Compere Lapin for brunch during Eras tour weekend. We had a reservation, but arrived early. We had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table - and the host was gracious enough to seat us early. Service was very polite and accommodating. Loved the decor and open kitchen (was excited to see top chef Nina working with the staff!). Also appreciated the Taylor decorations and themed dish names - such a fun touch! The Youareonyourown shrimp and grits was phenomenal - the best that we had our whole trip! The coconut grits were perfectly creamy and the creole sauce had a little spice that was great with the shrimp. Thank you, NOLA for the southern hospitality and fantastic food!
