The bar and bartender are the only things keeping this at at 2 star rating. The bartender was good and made a very good old fashioned. The kitchen was a joke. The fries were burnt. The burger and chicken sandwich were okay at best. Everything from the kitchen was over priced. It was 8pm on Friday night, less than 10 people in the restaurant and our food came out slowly and, as I said previously, the fries were burnt to a crisp. I am extremely unhappy with the price of this meal. We paid $125, before tip, for an unsatisfactory meal and 4 total cocktails. They need to do better.
BEST PART WAS THE VALET. I went to the lumen this evening for dinner with some colleagues to celebrate a birthday. I got to the lumen at 5:00 PM and walked into the restaurant which had two tables seated. I waited for 10 minutes at the host stand until I was told to take a seat anywhere. I waited for 15 minutes before I got up to ask for a menu. The Lumen has a happy hour but the prices were not honored. After no service for 30 minutes I asked to order and the food was way below par. I thought this would be a good place to get dinner. PATRONS BEWARE!!! And watch out for bugs at the bar.
Heard this place is good for both brunch and for dinner so this review is for dinner and specifically during restaurant week. So my thought is restaurant week is still the same food and no smaller portions. With that in mind, the entree at this place was a bit too small for me. If I didn't come during restaurant week when you don't get a full 3 course menu I would think this place was outrageously over priced for the portion you get. Therefore my recommendation is you come during restaurant or when your not super hungry. Overall place is good. I love that they source their ingredients from local farms, including the meat (44 farms same location that Knife gets it from). I give this place a 4 star because like I said during restaurant week this place is good. The appetizer was good (BBQ Chilli pork ribs are divine) so tender. The cheese board is really good. I love it when it comes with a honeycomb. The entree was small unfortunately but tasted good overall. I got the 44 farms top sirloin. The desert was really good (panna cotta). Also loved that our waitress really went out of her way to make sure my sister had a great experience and gave us the sorbet dessert as well as my sister wasn't a fan of the panna cotta so she gave it back. To me the waitress was really what raised it a star. I would put 2 stars without tasting the brunch. Again I haven't been here for brunch so maybe their potions for brunch are good that the one entree will be big enough to fill you.
Avoid this place like the black plague. They seated us in the middle of the restaurant, during an event so we literally had people surrounding us standing with their butts in our face as we were eating, having to scream to each other across the table to hear each other. Finally picked up our plates and drinks ourselves and walked to another section of the restaurant. Valet followed me to my car and harassed me about tips. Took my phone out of my hand, entered his number, pulled up apple pay and told me "he has 4 baby mommas to feed". Felt INCREDIBLY uncomfortable having this guy follow me to my car let alone give him my keys for a revisit (which is never happening). This place should be shut down.
I’m staying at the Lumen for work and was hoping to get some soup for dinner. I call the restaurant, was routed to the front desk and told the restaurant does not have a number and that I will have to walk downstairs. I walk down and wait at the hostess stand for five minutes before a bartender gives me a funny look for waiting. I say aloud that I thought a hostess would be up here for me to talk to. She told me to take a seat anywhere. I explained that I just want to order takeout and wondering what the soup is for the night. She says she will check and does not get back to me. Another bartender walks up to me and asks what I would like. I explain I just want to know what soup they have for take out. He says he will check. I watch as both bartenders do busy work around the restaurant for about 15 minutes before getting fed up and leaving. Mind you- there were only a handful of people in the restaurant. It was not busy AT ALL.
