Had high hopes but they were dashed quickly. We ate upstairs in a private room. Smelled musty and yuck walking up the stairs. Gave ambiance of an old rundown hotel. Staff was friendly and gave great presentations on steaks and what to order. I went against my normal (filet mignon) for the servers top recommendation and it was a too tough steak I didn’t really enjoy. I’m a big fan of French onion soup but this was lacking in flavor and making up for it with unexpectedly almost cracking a tooth on a foreign object of hard plastic. They were super kind and brought me giant shrimp cocktail to make up for it but they were rubbery and yuck too. I just wanted to be snug back in my hotel room. Couldn’t pay me to return unfortunately.
We finally tried Kinzie Chophouse in River North and loved their 8-Course Odyssey Tasting Menu, available every Sunday. The service was impeccable, and the cuisine was exceptional! We started with the Shellfish Trilogy, featuring poached crab claw, succulent shrimp, and a perfectly pan-seared scallop. The creamy lobster risotto was rich and packed with tender lobster pieces. The wet-aged filet was incredibly tender and flavorful. The lamb chop was so tender and flavorful, served with fried smashed potatoes and feta. We also enjoyed the intriguing Call me Rosa cocktail, a refreshing wine-based drink, followed by a fine cheese plate paired with infused honey. Dessert was indulgent and satisfying, the perfect end to a wonderful meal. Kinzie Chophouse is a warm, charming spot near the Merchandise Mart. Enjoy top-notch steaks and seafood, and unwind with jazzy tunes in their cozy dining room or newly renovated bar. They also offer a great variety of chicken, pasta, salads, and vegan options, all made with care. Their Award-Winning Wine list features over 650 selections to perfectly pair with your meal. Don’t miss out on this incredible dining experience. Treat yourself to the 8-Course Odyssey Tasting Menu next Sunday – you won't regret it!"
Amazing service, delicious tasting menu, and generous portions. I came to Kinzies almost 10 years ago under different ownership with my husband. Back in town for a solo trip and decided to try it again. SO glad I did. Reasonably priced and fabulous tasting menu that left me fat and happy! I kept forgetting to take pictures of each course, I kept digging right in. The service was impeccable, attentive and charming staff. This is a real gem, recommend with no reservations.
Everything was perfect! We were so shocked that it wasn’t packed however they were steady and busy. There was an all male staff which created a more classy atmosphere. Which leads me to compliment the customer service! Our waiter was very knowledgeable when it came to the cuisine and beverage menus. The presentation and quality of the food was high end. We sat on the bar side so it was more intimate. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we ordered dessert!!! We will definitely be back! This is a hidden gem for sure! See photos below!
Came for the Mother's Day brunch buffet. Ambiance was beautiful, service was wonderful we felt right at home. Food selections were also plenty and tasty. Both seafood, premium meat and side options were decadent and nicely presented. The dessert table also had about four options. The price per person was $100 with an automatic $20 per person gratuity already added plus taxes. For two people the bill was $270, this could add up if you have a larger family. It was a special occasion. The location is also across from the Chicago River so it was nice to walk along the river walk after dining. There's a parking garage with hourly rates across the street. I recommend getting a Spot Hero (discount parking app) to find a deal on parking there.
