While in Texas, Mr Sushi is a must. Ben aka Mr Sushi himself made and served our sushi. Lucky us! Never even touched a menu, he delivered an amazing variety of the house specialties. What a royal treat! Fresh and delicious! Mushroom soup, fresh pairs, colorful and tender, hand rolls, with perfectly cooked sushi rice and the grand finale was rum cake with green tea ice cream. The presentation and execution was a ten out of ten. Also, wanted to give a shout out to Leo, who made us a special melt in your mouth salad, as well as spoiled us with Hi-Chew and Poky. Fabulous experience! Left full, but already planning our next visit. Thank you for the phenomenal experience! Cheers!
Mr. Sushi is always a solid and reliable spot to eat. The quality of their food is consistent across the years, and that quality is really good. I have never had anything bad here, and they have, in my tastes, the best tamago I have had in the area. The service is always good, and on my last visit our server was very kind and accommodating with asking the chef questions we had without making us feel bad for asking. Our food and drinks were flowing freely, never had an empty glass. I love the atmosphere here. It is laid back, kind of old school decor, and no music playing. The lighting is cozy but not so dark you can't see the menu. The other patrons aren't loud. It's a nice place to eat, drink, and catch up with your loved ones.
Nothing bad but nothing special and pretty pricey. Very quiet, quaint atmosphere and great service. The sushi was nothing to come back for... Really unimpressive as far as options and the rolls appearance and quality.
Really good Japanese spot! Had no idea it has been open for 40 years. The floors are carpet! I’m a fan of that. The udon was my favorite dish here. The noodles were good and the broth was tasty. I also liked the una don (grilled eel). The chicken katsu curry was also great. I liked their chicken karaage over some other Japanese spots that serve the same dish. It was noticeably good. The unagi (eel) sushi was delicious. Definitely order Monaka for dessert! It’s like a Japanese ice cream sandwich, basically. The ice cream is inside wafers! It’s really good. We had vanilla. The other ice cream flavor for Monaka was green tea, but we had ordered a scoop of green tea ice cream and mango ice cream as well and didn’t like either of them. I suggest vanilla for Monaka. Really friendly staff and great service! I wouldn’t be opposed to returning for a second visit.
The best and oldest sushi bar in Dallas or Texas, for that matter. Ben, Scott and staff are the best in the business. I've been going there since 1984. Trust me when I say. It's the best!
