Legna Primera
Our experience at Assaggio in Boston’s North End was underwhelming. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, which got the evening off to a rough start. We tried the shrimp cocktail and carpaccio as appetizers. The carpaccio was flavorful but served in a very small portion, and the shrimp cocktail was average at best. For my main course, I had the spaghetti and meatballs, which lacked seasoning and depth—it felt uninspired for an Italian restaurant in this neighborhood.
While the ambiance was nice, the food didn’t meet expectations, and the portion sizes were disappointing. With so many amazing Italian spots nearby, it’s hard to recommend Assaggio.
