RE Hargrave
This was an amazing experience from the moment we walked in and asked if we were celebrating anything special until we left a couple of hours later. A starter of warm sourdough and soft butter was dropped off as our drink order was taken... our waiter helped us pick a nice champagne, even letting us sample before committing to a bottle. A 2020 Argyle which we enjoyed with the seafood tower for two. The PEI tuxedo oysters were fresh and delicious. The shrimp were jumbo, perfectly cooked, and sweet. The lobster... the best I've had in a long time.
Next, we shared an order of the fried green tomatoes. This was our first time having them, and Hall's version is not to be missed. They are topped with crab, shrimp, and a bacon succatash with super sweet corn in it. An absolute delight.
By then we'd finished the champagne, so we switched to a Paloma for my husband and the red sangria for me to pair with our mains.
The waiter talked my husband into trying a medium Kansas ribeye with a side of 2 perfectly seared scallops. He also insisted we had to try the pepperjack creamed corn, so we got a half portion, and it did not disappoint.
I got the twin apple-mustard glazed pork chops, also cooked medium. They were so tender and flavorful, especially with the bacon Bourbon jus they were paired with. The charred broccolini had an amazing smoky flavor and the red peas rounded out the plate.
Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert by that point. We left feeling like we'd had the royal treatment.
